This week on the SyrupCast, Igor Bonifacic, Patrick O'Rourke, and Dean Daley are joined by Rose Behar who is attending Microsoft Build 2017 in Seattle.

With Build 2017 already well underway, Rose walks the team through all of the latest announcements from Microsoft as well as what the company seems to have left in its past.

Also in the news this week, Amazon announced the new Echo Show, a voice activated speaker that feature's a 7-inch touch screen. This device unveiling comes on the heels of Microsoft's Cortana-powered Invoke announcement, whispers of a Windows 10 HomeHub, and rumours that Apple is also aiming to make a play into the smart home market with its own device.

The team is beginning to wonder, are voice activated smart home devices the new tech frontier? Or are they just another tech gimmick bound to be forgotten in a few years.

This week on the SyrupCast, Igor Bonifacic, Patrick O'Rourke, Zach Gilbert, and Rose Behar give the low down on the fight for net neutrality in Canada.

On April 20th, the CRTC ruled that Videotron's zero rated Unlimited Music service could no longer operate in its current form given the carriers preferential treatment of certain customers and music streaming platforms.

The CRTC also went on to use this ruling as a means of strengthening their stance in favour of net neutrality by introducing stricter regulations regarding differential pricing. These new guidelines has a Trump advisor in the U.S., a country that recently opted to go the opposite direction in regards to net neutrality, up in arms.

This week on the SyrupCast, Igor Bonifacic, Patrick O'Rourke, Zach Gilbert, and Ian Hardy give their updated perspectives on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and speculate about Andy Rubin's rumoured Android phone.

The MobileSyrup team has had its hands on the Galaxy S8 for a few weeks now and is bringing you their more detailed impressions of the device, including the phone's design, comparing it to LG's G6 and Bixby's lacklustre launch. The team also discusses a new (though also kind of old player) possibly player entering the game very soon.

Andy Rubin, co-founder of Google's Android operating system, is working on a new smartphone called the 'Essential' following the device's promising looking specs recently leaking.

This week on the SyrupCast, Igor Bonifacic, Patrick O'Rourke, Rose Behar, and Ian Hardy talk about the LG G6 and Toronto City Council's plea to the CRTC for unlimited data.

This week marks the Canadian launch of LG's newest flagship phone, the G6. Following the recent release of Samsung's Galaxy S8, the SyrupCast crew is asking if this is a swing and a miss for LG? Does a $100 price difference make any difference to someone in the market for a new high-end smart phone?

It is no secret that Canadian's pay exorbitant amounts for cell phone plans in comparison to other countries, and MobileSyrup has gone into great detail covering this issue many times in the past.

This week, Toronto's City Council has jumped on the bandwagon by introducing a motion asking the CRTC to pursue getting all major Canadian carriers to offer reasonably priced unlimited data plans. The motion passed, but the SyrupCast team is skeptical of the true intent behind the discussion and whether it will actually lead to any change.
